Our Vision

Determined at a visioning circle held on 24 November 2010
  • Like to learn how to coppice
  • A box (or two) of organic vegetables
  • This is the “seed”: the start of something bigger
  • See this become an economically viable land-use option
  • See a social care element: people getting health benefits from working
  • A co-operative effort towards supplying ourselves with food
  • Self replication and management through the commitment of individuals
  • The mindful of the consequences of the decisions we make
  • A self-sustaining project, that can be replicated
  • Inclusive project that involves the wider community: especially at the school site
  • That the school can take a leading educative role and act as an example to others
  • Inspiring: spreading the message: empowering others
  • Spiritual reconnection with the land: creating a relationship between us, food and the land
  • Improve biodiversity on the site: targeted and rigorously monitored actions
  • Changing food culture: with the hope that this will also change land-use and resource-use patterns – making them more sustainable
  • Wide distribution: actively engaging with hard to reach communities (not just geography!)
  • Raising awareness of key sustainability issues and demonstrating an alternative food system
  • Starting simple: don’t over-complicate things!
  • Inclusive: everyone is welcome to participate or interact – even if their values don’t match ours
  • To look at other aspects of food production: eggs, livestock etc
  • Empowered: sharing in the direction of the organisation, with trust and openness
  • Make it easier for people to make the “right” choices
  • A site that can be a resource: reskilling / education, sharing and learning from each other
  • Bees on one or both sites
  • Building confidence and hope in a sustainable approach to food
  • Being part of something that is turning the tide and doing good
  • Creating local land based jobs
  • “Waste” management – a closed loop not a line to landfill
  • Creating (through trial and experiment) a desirable Norwich/local complete diet
  • Systems to allow and enable those who want to, to volunteer
  • To have people in Norwich eating more seasonally
  • To maintain a balance between our values and ethics and financial viability
  • To make it fun and a celebration.
